Today marks the 50th anniversary of the launch of the Apollo 15 space mission. Apollo 15 was also the first all University of Michigan crew — the 9th crewed mission in the U.S. Apollo program, and the 4th to land on the moon.
David Scott, James Irwin, and Al Worden launched from the John F. Kennedy Space Center on July 26, 1971, and returned nearly two weeks later on August 7.
