2023 Great U-M Snowball Fight

Hundreds of students gathered on the Diag in front of the Graduate Library on University of Michigan’s Central Campus for a giant snowball fight.

Up to 6 inches of snow fell in Ann Arbor on Wednesday, Jan. 25. in what became the first major snow storm of 2023. The snow blanketed the city and covered the trees with a white layer of powder.

Lured in by social media posts, hundreds of students began to gather around the Diag on central campus as dusk approached. Before the snowball fight began, a group of students built a snow fort for protection. This became the center of battle as newcomers formed an opposing front about 30 feet away. Fierce battle lasted into the night.
