A photograph of Braden Gandee receiving an installation onto his wheelchair.

Braden Gandee, 12, receives an installation of an addition to his wheelchair that a University of Michigan ME450 team designed for him that will allow for him to play soccer with his brother and classmates at school. Gandee was born with cerebral palsy and has been limited to a wheelchair, often running over the soccer ball instead of pushing it forward when he tried to play with his brothers and classmates. A team of U-M engineers in ME450, a capstone senior course for undergraduates, designed an addition that will allow Gandee to dribble and kick and a soccer ball.
