Therapeutic Vibration

A photograph of a lab experiment.

M. Mert Egilmez, a mechanical engineering research fellow, wears a vibration-based therapeutic device during a demonstration test while surrounded by colleagues in the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Building on North Campus of the University of Michigan College of Engineering in Ann Arbor, MI on November 6, 2017. The research project, led by Egilmez under the direction of Bogdan Epureanu, a professor of mechanical engineering, aims to study the pleasant effects of controlled mechanical vibrations on the human body through the use of a therapeutic device. The project is making its way through the Coulter Translational Research Partnership Program within the Department of Biomedical Engineering, which seeks to accelerate the development of university technologies into new products to improve health care.
