Searching for New Oxide Films

A photograph of a researcher in lab.

John Heron, Assistant Professor of Materials Science & Engineering, examines the deposition process of an oxide film sample in the Gerstacker Building on North Campus of the University of Michigan. Heron's research group, the Ferroelectronics Lab, focuses on developing new methods to investigate and engineer functional material properties, especially for thin film synthesis, structural and electronic characterization, and device application of functional oxide thin films and heterostructures.
