A laser beam is shot from the Lurie Bell Tower to hack into a Google Home device in the Bob and Betty Beyster Building on November 25, 2019. A team of EECS researchers led by Kevin Fu, Associate Professor, and Daniel Genkin, Assistant Professor, have discovered a microphone vulnerability that allows attackers to remotely inject inaudible and invisible commands into voice assistants such as Siri and Alexa using light.
