Seth Guikema named as a fellow of the Society for Risk Analysis

U-M IOE professor, Seth Guikema, becomes a fellow of the Society for Risk Analysis.| Short Read

U-M Industrial and Operations Engineering (IOE) Professor Seth Guikema is one of seven to be honored by joining the 2020 Fellows for the Society for Risk Analysis (SRA).

The announcement was made alongside six scholarly and service awards as part of the annual SRA meeting, which was held virtually this year. Some of the awards recipients included Amber Jessup and Anthony Fauci.

SRA is an international scholarly society with over 2,000 members which provides an open forum for those interested in risk analysis. They broadly define risk analysis to include various facets, such as assessment, communication, management and policy. SRA aspires to address risk concerns for individuals and organizations at the local, regional, national and global levels.

Seth Guikema joined U-M IOE in 2015 and is also a professor in the U-M Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. His recent research focuses on the problems of urban and infrastructure resilience, sustainability, and equity in a changing climate. He served as the 2020 President of SRA and is currently the Area Editor for Natural Hazards in the journal Risk Analysis and previously completed a three-year term on the Councils of the International Society for Risk Analysis and the INFORMS Decision Analysis Society.
