Aerospace Engineering Professor Dennis Bernstein has published the third edition of “Scalar, Vector, and Matrix Mathematics: Theory, Facts, and Formulas.” First published in 2005, the updated edition revises and expands on previous material. It also includes the newest findings and results in matrix theory.
Professor Bernstein currently teaches Aerospace 348: Aircraft Flight Dynamics and Control, as well as multiple dynamics, optimization, and controls graduate-level courses. Starting in the Winter 2019 semester, he will teach the department’s new undergraduate controls course, Aerospace 470: Control of Aerospace Vehicles. In addition to teaching, Professor Bernstein is the director of the Noise, Vibration, and Motion Control Laboratory, and his research interests include active noise, vibration, motion, and spacecraft attitude control. He was editor-in-chief of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) Control Systems publication from August 2003 to December 2011.
“Scalar, Vector, and Matrix Mathematics: Theory, Facts, and Formulas” will be released for purchase on February 27th, 2018.
