Ronald B. and Kathryn J. Colby Student Entrepreneur Fund endowed

This fund will provide undergraduate student support for those participating in the Center for Entrepreneurship degree-related programs at the College of Engineering.| Short Read

Ron (AB ’78) and Kathy Colby of Minnetonka, Minnesota have endowed the Ronald B. and Kathryn J. Colby Student Entrepreneur Fund. This fund will provide undergraduate student support for those participating in the Center for Entrepreneurship degree-related programs at the College of Engineering. Students will receive funding, such as internship and travel stipends, for hands-on entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial related experiences. This gift qualifies for the Third Century Matching Initiative.

Ron Colby trained as an actuary and has years of executive leadership experience.  He began his career at Lincoln National Corporation and later joined UnitedHealth Group. Before retiring from UnitedHealth Group, Mr. Colby fulfilled executive roles such as chief executive officer of Specialized Care Services and chief executive officer of Insurance Services. He and his wife, Kathy, are dedicated supporters of the University of Michigan, including Athletics, the College of Literature, Science and the Arts, and now the College of Engineering and Center for Entrepreneurship.
